EQ Welcomes Regional Leaders for ASEAN Summit 2025
3 June 2025 – Kuala Lumpur recently took centre stage as the host city for the 46th ASEAN Summit, held from 26–27 May 2025, under the Chairmanship of the Honourable Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. In conjunction with the 2nd ASEAN–Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and ASEAN–GCC–China Summit, this high-level trilateral engagement marked a pivotal moment in advancing strategic regional partnerships.
Hosted at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the Summit convened heads of state from all ten ASEAN Member States and six GCC nations, reinforcing ASEAN’s increasing role as a central platform for regional dialogue, economic collaboration, and global diplomacy. With the 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship held by Malaysia, the Summit embraced the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” representing a forward-looking aspiration for shared progress and peace across Southeast Asia. The two-day event featured a robust agenda focused on regional collaboration and long-term resilience, with emphasis on economic integration, climate action, digital connectivity, and inclusive growth. During the Plenary Session, ASEAN Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn presented key updates on the region’s progress towards the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 under Malaysia’s leadership.
In recognition of this occasion, EQ had the honour of welcoming the Singapore delegations, including Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, and Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. Upholding its reputation for service excellence, EQ delivered a refined hospitality experience that harmoniously blended Malaysian warmth with professional sophistication.
EQ was also privileged to extend its hospitality to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia delegation, comprising representatives from Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), Personal Security Officers (PSO), Liaison Officers (LO), Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM), and secretariat members from MOFA.
Adding to the significance of the occasions, EQ also served as the esteemed venue for the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) – ASEAN-GCC-China Roundtable Meeting, held on 26 May 2025 in the Diamond Ballroom.
To ensure a smooth and secure hosting of this high-level event, Kuala Lumpur’s city centre underwent extensive preparations. Traffic control and security efforts were strategically coordinated, particularly within the central business district. Road closures and diversions were communicated ahead of time, allowing authorities to minimise disruption for daily commuters while safeguarding the safety and mobility of all attending delegates.
The 46th ASEAN Summit was more than a diplomatic event—it was a celebration of regional unity, resilience, and a shared vision for the future. For Equatorial Plaza, being part of this important milestone highlights our commitment to excellence and our role in supporting Malaysia’s position as a centre for international dialogue and cooperation.
